Privacy — ClipLocale

How local video, audio, captions, and account data are handled.

Last updated: 2026-10-07

Your video and workspace

The video you select stays on your device. The browser reads its audio track locally, in short chunks, to create an audio-only WAV for transcription. ClipLocale does not upload the video file or provide cloud storage for video, audio, or subtitle projects.

Your selected file and editable captions live in the current browser tab. Refreshing or leaving the page loses this workspace. Download captions before leaving. Sample captions are labelled examples and do not send an AI request.

Audio and text sent for AI processing

When you choose Generate subtitles, each extracted audio chunk goes through ClipLocale's server to OpenRouter and its upstream transcription provider. Caption text goes through the same service for translation. These transfers are necessary to create captions and translations.

This workflow does not promise zero retention by OpenRouter or its upstream providers. Their processing, logging, and retention policies apply. Read OpenRouter's privacy policy before sending sensitive audio or text. Use material you are permitted to process.

Google sign-in and usage records

Google is the only sign-in option. ClipLocale stores basic account details returned by Google, authentication and session records, assigned roles and permissions, and a current-day usage summary. One record per user is overwritten when the UTC date changes; it counts submitted audio duration, characters and processing attempts. One current processing slot is reused without creating subtitle-use history. Administrators can view these records and manage roles.

A one-time trial marker prevents repeated grants. Waffo processes checkout and payment-card details; ClipLocale does not store payment-card numbers. ClipLocale keeps limited orders, balance lots, and cumulative payment/refund summaries needed to verify entitlements. They contain no audio or caption text. If you confirm processing only the opening duration covered by your balance, only that audio range and its caption text are sent to AI.

Session cookies support sign-in. Changing the interface language may set a language preference cookie. Google handles its own authentication flow under its policies.

Your privacy choices and data requests

You may ask to access a copy of your personal data, correct it, or delete your ClipLocale account and personal data. Where applicable, you may also ask for portability, restriction, object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority.

Email support@cliplocale.com from the email registered with ClipLocale, state the request, and include any relevant transaction ID. We use that registered email to verify the request; we do not ask for a password or government ID. Do not send payment-card details or media. We normally respond within 30 days, or sooner when applicable law requires it.

Account deletion and active-session invalidation are handled after manual verification; there is no self-service deletion button in this version. We cannot retrieve or delete selected videos, audio, or captions from ClipLocale because we do not store them. We may retain a limited amount of information where needed for transactions, taxes, disputes, fraud prevention, or other legal obligations, and only for those purposes.

Google controls its account and authentication data, Waffo controls its checkout and payment data, and OpenRouter and its upstream providers control data they process for transcription or translation. For personal data each of those services controls, contact that service through its own privacy process.

Anonymous usage analytics

ClipLocale sends limited usage events to its TK analytics service at tk.floor.in to understand visits, subtitle processing, downloads, errors, and checkout steps. These events use a random visitor identifier and a separate session identifier stored in two first-party browser storage entries. A session expires after 30 minutes without recorded activity. If browser storage is unavailable, identifiers remain in the current page's memory.

Events include the page category, interface language, a limited source category, and the type and outcome of an action. They do not include your Google account, email, selected filename, video, audio, subtitle text, or arbitrary URL parameters. Test traffic is separated from production reports. Analytics do not add media storage or processing-history rows to ClipLocale's application database. No advertising or customer-support tracking scripts are installed.

Changes

This page describes the first version's current boundaries. If storage or other services are introduced, this page must be updated to reflect the resulting data flow.
