Practical guide
ClipLocale, Clideo, and Canva: choose by the output you need
Start with your input and your delivery format. A video that needs a translated subtitle file, an existing SRT that needs editing, and a designed video with permanent captions lead to different workflows. This comparison uses documented features, not a hands-on speed or accuracy ranking.

Three starting points
ClipLocale reads a local video, extracts audio in the browser, and sends audio and subtitle text for online AI processing. It returns editable original, translated, and bilingual captions, with SRT/VTT export. It currently does not import SRT or render a captioned video.
Clideo’s official add-subtitles page documents video upload, SRT import, text and timing edits, separate SRT export, and video export with subtitles rendered into the picture. Canva’s official page documents uploading video, generating captions, editing their appearance, and exporting captioned video. These source descriptions do not establish all features or plan limits of either product.
| Task | ClipLocale | Clideo official page | Canva official page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting video | Selected locally; audio/text online | Video upload | Video upload |
| Existing SRT | No current import | SRT import documented | Not assessed from this source |
| Delivery focus | SRT/VTT subtitle files | Separate SRT or captioned video | Captioned video design/export |
| Review focus | Original/translation, cue times, bilingual preview | Caption text and time edits | Caption appearance and video design |
Choose a path for your actual task
Choose ClipLocale when you have spoken video and want editable translated subtitle files while keeping the video image out of the transcription input. Check browser media support and language choices before beginning. Local video handling does not mean offline recognition or zero upstream retention.
For an established SRT, a tool with SRT import can preserve the existing subtitle workflow. Clideo documents that import and editing path; do not infer SRT translation from import alone. Translate the text using an appropriate tool, preserve timecodes, and validate the resulting file.
If delivery requires styled text in a rendered video, evaluate an editor’s caption design and export workflow. Clideo documents rendered subtitle output and Canva documents captioned video export. Confirm the current plan, supported languages, and intended format on the service before committing your footage.
Compare the same input and delivery conditions
If you run your own evaluation, use the same harmless clip, spoken language, intended audience, and subtitle output. Inspect original transcription mistakes separately from translation mistakes. Compare readability and cue alignment on the same player or export destination rather than treating different deliverables as interchangeable.
No actual third-party quality test is claimed here. Pricing, language coverage, processing speed, AI accuracy, SRT options not shown by the cited page, and retention behavior are not ranked. Check the privacy guide to inspect data categories without turning an upload workflow into an unsupported safety judgment.
